Yale Hand and Upper Extremity Center
The Yale hand upper extremity service specializes in the evaluation of injuries and musculoskeletal disorders of the hand and upper extremity. The team consists of physicians who are board certified in Orthopaedics, Hand Surgery, and Plastic Surgery. They are members and participate in numerous societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society of Surgery of the Hand, Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Members of the team are authors of numerous papers and are invited national and international speakers. They are active in both clinical and basic science research and mentor residents and students.
Among special services offered by the Center are the following:
- Wrist and hand fractures (including mal-unions and non-unions and percutaneous fixation)
- Distal radius fractures
- Scaphoid fractures
- Wrist and hand instabilities
- Arthroscopy of the wrist, hand and elbow
- Minimally invasive hand and wrist surgery
- Athletic injury to upper extremities
- Tendon, vascular, and nerve injuries
- Joint contractures
- Arthritis of the Wrist, Hand and Elbow
- Tendonitis
- Trigger finger
- Nerve compression syndromes
- Soft tissue reconstruction of the extremities (including skin grafts and flaps)
- Tumors of the hand
